Global Dog

Client: Laurie Chen, CEO/Founder, Global Dog
Roles: Team Lead, Research, UX/UI Design, Usability Testing
Goal: Connecting dog owners and lovers
Tools: Omnigraffle, Axure

The Opportunity

Our client came to us with a general idea for a social network for dog owners to connect around common interests. She also wanted to incorporate a way for users to connect with and support animal welfare organizations.

Potential Obstacles

  • Differentiation from other social networking sites
  • Differentiation from other dog-centric sites/apps
  • Incorporating dog welfare

To overcome these obstacles, my team utilized a variety of research methods (eg: competitive analysis, user interviews (five subjects), affinity diagram) to gather data, brainstorm potential solutions and create a primary persona to design for. Based on our research, our team decided that the best approach for our client would be to position Global Dog as a dog-centric social networking site where content can be filtered, organized and curated based on specific interests.

Global Dog Benefits

  • Freedom to join groups to connect around common interests
  • Freedom to easily apply content filters to view content based on specific mood and context of user

Results

  • Produced a clickable prototype of a dog-centric social networking mobile app.
  • The prototype scored well in both SUS and SEQ.
  • Users were enthusiastic about the Global Dog prototype and expressed willingness to download and sign up.
  • Our client is in the process of pitching to investors and finding developers to build the prototype.
